Serve With Us

Even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

- Matthew 20:28

Ways to Serve at First Baptist Church Mart

At First Baptist Church Mart, we believe everyone has gifts and talents that God can use to serve others and strengthen the church. Whether you have been part of our church family for many years or you are new and looking for a place to get involved, there are many opportunities to serve.

Serving is a wonderful way to grow in faith, build meaningful relationships, and be part of what God is doing in our church and community.

Children’s Ministry

There are several opportunities to serve within our Children’s Ministry, helping guide and encourage the next generation in their faith.

KidVenture – Wednesday Nights
KidVenture is our Wednesday night ministry for children from preschool through sixth grade. The evening begins with a light meal and includes Bible study, music, and crafts led by dedicated and experienced teachers. Volunteers can assist teachers, help with activities, and build relationships with the children.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Each year we host a week-long Vacation Bible School for children preschool through sixth grade. This outreach ministry reaches both our church families and children in the community. During VBS, children participate in Bible study, recreation, crafts, and music each day, and many volunteers are needed to help make the week successful.

Sunday Morning Children’s Sunday School Ministry
On Sunday mornings, we provide ministry for children preschool through sixth grade that includes Bible study, crafts, and music. Volunteers are always welcome to help support this important time of learning and spiritual growth.

Sunday School Ministry

There are several ways to serve in our Sunday School ministry. Opportunities include:

  • Current Vacancy for a Sunday School Director
  • Serving as a backup teacher
  • Being trained and mentored to help lead Bible study classes

Sunday School plays an important role in helping people grow in their understanding of God’s Word and build strong relationships within the church.

Women’s Missionary Union (WMU)

The women of our church meet each Tuesday for fellowship and to work on projects, then they hold their committee meeting once a month.  The WMU pray, plan ministry opportunities, and support missions locally, statewide, and around the world. This ministry focuses on serving both the church and the community.

WMU activities include:

  • Planning ministry and outreach events
  • Supporting local mission projects
  • Hosting guest speakers such as missionaries
  • Identifying needs within the church and community
  • Providing a college scholarship each year to a graduating senior from our local high school

This ministry is a meaningful way for women to grow in faith, fellowship, and service together.

Open House Ministry

Each Wednesday morning from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, we open our doors to the community for a light breakfast. This is a relaxed and welcoming time where people can gather, get to know one another, share stories, and enjoy a short devotional and prayer together.

Ways to serve include:

  • Providing food or refreshments
  • Helping set up or clean up
  • Welcoming guests and spending time in fellowship

Outreach & Care Ministry

Serving others is an important part of our church family. There are always opportunities to:

  • Call and check in on church members and our homebound
  • Visit with those who may need encouragement
  • Invite others to church
  • Reach out to those who may not have a church home or who want to learn more about Christ

These simple acts of kindness can make a lasting impact.

Ushers

Ushers help create a welcoming and safe environment during worship services. This role includes assisting guests and following certain safety protocols. Training is provided for those who would like to serve in this ministry.

Building Properties Committee

The Properties Committee helps oversee the care and maintenance of our church buildings and grounds. Volunteers are needed in several ways, including:

  • Helping during church workdays
  • Assisting with opening and closing buildings for services and ministries
  • Using special skills such as plumbing, carpentry, repairs, or maintenance when needs arise

This ministry is a great way to serve behind the scenes and help care for the place where our church gathers.

Music & Media Ministry

Our Music & Media Ministry has many opportunities. We welcome individuals with a variety of musical and media gifts and talents.

Ways to serve include:

  • Choir
